Celebrate Nature, Artistic Creativity, and Learning at Westmont Montessori

— WESTMONT ART BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Celebrate your child’s special day with a joyful blend of nature, creativity, and hands‑on exploration at Westmont. Our Art Birthday Parties invite young artists to play outdoors, gather natural treasures, and create beautiful take‑home projects in our bright, welcoming art space. With forest trails, a waterfall nearby, and five inspiring themes to choose from, Westmont offers a birthday experience that feels magical, meaningful, and wonderfully child‑centered.

What Makes a Westmont Party Special

A Beautiful Natural Setting

The campus sits beside the forest, with a playground nestled under the trees and a waterfall flowing into Witty’s Lagoon just steps away. Children begin their party outside, exploring the grounds, collecting natural treasures, and enjoying the kind of unstructured outdoor time that is harder and harder to find at a typical party venue. It sets a tone that feels genuinely different from the moment guests arrive. There are not many places in the Victoria area where a birthday party starts with a walk to a waterfall.

Creative, Guided Art Experiences

Every party includes a hands-on art project rooted in what the children found outside. They gather their materials first, then bring them indoors to create something that is entirely their own. No two pieces come out the same. Each child takes their work home along with a built-in goody bag that feels personal rather than generic. With five themes to choose from, every child will land on something they are genuinely excited about, whether that is sculpting with clay, building a nature wand, or painting with things they collected themselves.

A Montessori Approach to Celebration

Our hosts guide children through open-ended exploration and joyful creativity rather than a step-by-step craft kit. The Montessori approach is built on the belief that children learn best when they are given real materials, real choices, and the freedom to follow where their curiosity leads. A Westmont birthday party reflects that same philosophy. There is no single right outcome for any of the art projects here, and that is entirely the point. Children leave with something that is actually theirs, made the way they wanted to make it. All art supplies, materials, and clean-up are taken care of. Families bring their own food, tableware, and any optional decorations they’d like.

We recommend letting guests know to come dressed in clothes they don’t mind getting messy. We use washable paint, but can’t guarantee it will launder from all fabrics. As Maria Montessori said, “Play is the work of the child.”

Choose Your Party Theme

Nature Wands

Kids gather sticks, flowers, and forest treasures, then create magical wands using cardboard, clear tape, found objects, and sparkling items from our treasure trunk.

Nature Collage

Young artists collect natural treasures, then tear, punch, and glue shapes onto colourful paper to create a vibrant nature collage to take home.

Painting with Nature

Children collect leaves, pinecones, twigs, and flowers to create their own paintbrushes. Indoors, they explore patterns, impressions, and textures using washable paint.

Clay Creations

Under a maple tree, children gather leaves, petals, and rocks. Back inside, they press these natural materials into air‑dry clay to create beautiful textured pieces.

Chelle Fox is a mother of two adventurous boys and loves channeling their energy through creative expression. Having studied Visual Art and Art History at UVic, she enjoys painting, crafting, and interior design—skills she is currently applying to the renovation of her 1911 home. Spending time in nature with her family – finding beach treasures & cool moss – and volunteering brings her joy. She currently serves as the Westmont Montessori PAC President.

Melina Ponak is passionate about creating meaningful, art-filled experiences for children. She holds a degree in the History of Ideas from McGill University and has experience in program design and early childhood education.
